The LA apartment moving checklist
The building paperwork and access details that decide whether move day goes smoothly.
Three weeks out
- Ask both buildings for their move-in/move-out rules and allowed hours
- Request the certificate of insurance requirements in writing
- Reserve the freight elevator at both ends if applicable
- Get quotes with your real access details: stairs, elevator, carry distance
One week out
- Forward the COI from your mover to both property managers
- Arrange truck parking — check whether a temporary posting is required on your block
- Confirm crew size, arrival window and the total estimated hours
- Measure oversized furniture against elevator and doorway dimensions
Move day
- Walk the crew through the unit before loading starts
- Keep documents, keys and valuables with you, not on the truck
- Photograph the empty unit at both ends
- Review the inventory and estimate before signing anything
